You can also call Medical Treatment Overseas (MTO) Program to inquire about Twisha’s MTOP application for Government Grant to pay for her Medical Treatment in USA. Medical Treatment Overseas (MTO) Program can help Twisha; it is not their final decision but their initial draft assessment for Twisha’s MTOP application is negative stating that, “Twisha doesn’t meet criterion A & D below.

  1. The proposed overseas treatment or an effective alternative treatment must not be available in Australia in time to benefit the applicant;
  2. The treatment must be significantly life-extending and potentially curative;
  3. There must be a real prospect of success for the applicant; and
  4. The treatment must be accepted by the Australian medical profession as a standard form of treatment for the applicant’s condition.

    1. But the truth is that, no any Australian surgeon has performed actual Foker Operation (Proposed Overseas Treatment) on the patient who is out of neonatal period and already has had many previous surgeries (including failed “Foker TYPE operation”) – a patient like Twisha.

      There are other alternative treatments available in Australia (that are not effective), such as Gastric Pull Up, Colonic Interposition, etc.-The treatments that will damage other organs (such as stomach or colon) of her body. These will also left her with physical deformity and other medical complications and medicines for rest of her life, which can be life threatening.

    1. The paediatric surgical profession of Australasia has rejected Foker Technique as a standard form of treatment for Twisha’s current condition. But the Truth is that, At Children’s Hospital Boston, USA Dr. Foker, Dr. Jennings and the team have successfully repaired numerous patients that were similar to Twisha, (who had already trial of failed Foker treatment)

      If you believe that Twisha should go to Boston, USA for her further medical treatment to have her  own/native Esophagus to be repaired rather than to be replaced by her stomach or colon, Please contact Medical Treatment Overseas (MTO) Program team to request them to send Twisha to USA.
